Non-commercial photography
The Windsor Estate offers a great choice of natural landscapes, including lakes and formal gardens that are perfect for non-commercial photo shoots.
If you wish to conduct a photo shoot for your own personal use, you will need permission to do so. Examples include:
- Student photography projects
- Pre and/or post wedding photographs
- Wedding photos on The Long Walk
- Family photo shoots
Please read the information below which will help you to decide if Windsor Great Park is the right place to carry out your non-commercial photo shoot.
Getting started
You can generally conduct a photo shoot Monday to Friday. Due to the number of visitors to Windsor Great Park, we do not permit photo shoots on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holiday weekends.
- When you contact us, please specify your preferred date/s so that we can check availability
- Please do not commit to any photo shoot activity until a team member has confirmed your date
Apply as soon as you can but you will need to apply at least fourteen (14) days prior to your requested photo shoot date. As an operational Estate, we regret that not all applications will be successful.
It is possible to have a wedding photo shoot on The Long Walk. There are conditions which you should be aware of before submitting your application:
- The shoot must be restricted to the couple and close family and/or friends
- Can only take place Monday to Friday
- The group should be no larger than ten (10) people
- Only a handheld camera may be used – no other photography equipment
- No props are to be used
- No confetti may be used
- No vehicles may be brought on to The Long Walk
- Wedding photography must not negatively impact on other visitors to Windsor Great Park
To request permission to conduct a wedding photo shoot on The Long Walk, you will need to complete the non-commercial photography application form, providing us with the following information:
- Contact details
- Date of photo shoot
- Time of photo shoot
- Location and brief description of your photo shoot
- Number of people attending
- Confirmation that your photographer will undertake a full risk assessment
- A copy of your photographer’s Public Liability Insurance
All of this information must be provided for us to consider your request.
It is possible to carry out a photo shoot at Windsor Great Park. There are conditions which you should be aware of before submitting your application:
- The location must not include any private areas, The Leptis Magna Ruins, the Cascade or crossing any fence line around Virginia Water
- The photo shoot must be restricted to the couple and the photographer
- Can only take place Monday to Friday
- Only a handheld camera may be used – no other photography equipment
- Vehicles are not permitted inside Windsor Great Park
- Confirmation that your photographer will undertake a full risk assessment
- A copy of your photographer’s Public Liability Insurance

The Savill Garden is a tranquil Woodland Garden that is visited, amongst many other things, for its peace and quiet. Photo shoots cannot be conducted in The Savill Garden.
Filming and photography with drones is not permitted in Windsor Great Park and on the wider Estate.
Paperwork and charges
There is no charge to conduct a non-commercial photo shoot In Windsor Great Park as long as you have received permission to do so.
